IoT for Smart Cities

The digital transformation of cities is already a reality that we are driving at GO servicios

With an installed base of over 130,000 LoRaWAN meters, we have evolved from traditional meter management toward integral Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.

As Alberto Palomar, head of service at GO servicios, explains:

"Ultimately, the meter is essentially a sensor that measures water flow or volume. Leveraging that knowledge, we have the capacity to connect any sensor to our platform."

The challenge: converting operational complexity into efficiency.

Cities and large modern facilities, such as sports complexes, face the complexity of managing multiple parameters—consumption, security, air quality—with fragmented systems, which hinders informed decision-making and generates inefficiencies. At GO servicios, we set out to go beyond remote reading, extending meter monitoring capabilities to other vectors of urban management.

The solution

Building on our experience with the LoRaWAN network, we developed a modular IoT solution, centralized on a digital platform, that allows clients to access data in real time and receive automatic alerts.

First Project: Alcoi Smart Sports Complex, the municipal sports complex of Alcoi was selected as the most emblematic case to demonstrate the capacity to transform a traditional building into a Smart Building. The solution we implemented integrated sensors that simultaneously monitor the following parameters:

  • Sanitary safety: Real-time monitoring of water temperature for active Legionella prevention.
  • Energy and water efficiency: Detailed tracking of consumption levels (energy and water) and HVAC systems.
  • User comfort and safety: Measurement of the occupancy and real-time air quality control.

Palomar highlights:

"They can see everything that is happening in their facilities in real time, from sanitary safety to resource optimization."

Results and conclusion

  • Comprehensive implementation of sensors and monitoring of key parameters in smart facilities.
  • Solutions replicated in other projects, such as the Bonaire Shopping Center.
  • Centralization of information on digital platforms, with access to real-time and historical data.
  • Scalable experience and technology for different urban environments and public buildings.

At GO servicios, we demonstrate that digital transformation in cities and buildings is already a reality. Thanks to the integration of IoT and advanced sensorization, it is possible to efficiently monitor consumption, facilities, and spaces, replicating these models in multiple environments. With over 130,000 operational LoRaWAN devices and a technological platform proven in real environments, we are implementing smart city solutions in a practical and functional way.
