Device for measuring energy audits

Data that turns into savings

11/6/26

We analyse how, when, and how much facilities consume to detect economic, energy, and environmental improvement opportunities.

Every drop of drinking water that reaches our homes needs energy to be extracted, pumped, and distributed. Energy audits allow us to know if that energy is being used well and how to save without losing service quality. We tell you how we work and what results we obtain.

Why audit energy
Auditing energy means conducting an in-depth analysis of how, when, and how much energy a facility consumes, to detect where improvements can be made. In the water cycle, it is especially important because wells and pumping stations run continuously and have a highly relevant weight in total consumption.

Furthermore, it is a regulatory obligation. Royal Decree 56/2016 requires large companies to audit, every four years, at least 85% of the energy they consume. At GOservicios, we are part of that mechanism: within the Global Omnium Group, our energy management team is in charge of auditing drinking water facilities, i.e., the wells, pumping stations, and delivery points that supply reservoirs, networks, and water treatment plants.

How we work: from data to improvement
Our process is based on a simple idea: before proposing changes, the facility must be well understood. That is why we analyse a full year of operation, combining the data already collected by our monitoring systems and electricity bills with measurements taken directly on-site.

With that information, we calculate efficiency indicators, including the pumping index, which tells us, in a simple way, if a pump is working efficiently or if there is room for improvement. From there, we propose specific measures with a triple objective: economic, energy, and environmental savings.

A real example: the Benigànim well
In one of our audits, we detected that the pump of a well in the area, installed a long time ago, showed a pumping index that could be improved. Among other measures, we proposed replacing it with more efficient equipment suitable for its operating point.

Months later, the operation confirmed the change. The data reflects it clearly: between the 10th and 12th of April, the pump's consumption and the pumping index dropped suddenly. It is proof that auditing, proposing, and executing yields measurable results that are maintained over time.

The saving potential grows with the facility's consumption. Guillermo Romero García Consuegra, technical manager of the energy audit service at GOservicios, sums it up like this: "The more a facility consumes, the easier it is to achieve large savings. 5% of huge consumption is a lot."

From drinking water to any facility
As Guillermo highlights: "Our main historical field of action has been the drinking water cycle, within the Global Omnium Group. However, our specialisation allows us to successfully audit any type of facility."

In fact, our team adapts its knowledge to very diverse environments. We have analysed everything from purely water infrastructures to external clients' facilities, as we recently demonstrated by studying the energy and thermal behaviour of a heated public swimming pool in the municipality of Burjassot.

Towards a more efficient future
We continue working so that more and more clients and organisations better understand their energy consumption, detect saving opportunities, and progress towards more efficient facilities. If yours wants to know how and where it consumes its energy, at GOservicios we will be delighted to help you. Contact us and discover how much you can save.
