Access to safe drinking water and its efficient management are fundamental pillars for the development of any society.
In this context, the technological modernisation of distribution networks plays a vital role. At GOservicios, we are proud to be part of an ambitious international project in El Salvador, in collaboration with Aguas de Valencia Internacional, aimed at transforming the management of water resources through the implementation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
The challenge of water management in San Salvador
Historically, the National Administration of Aqueducts and Sewers (ANDA) has faced significant challenges in managing its drinking water network, particularly within the Torogoz System. One of the main challenges is the high level of non-revenue water. This is compounded by the decentralised nature of technical information, which makes it extremely difficult to analyse the network as a whole.
To address this situation, an important Water Sector Resilience Project has been launched. Its primary objective is to improve the quality, efficiency and climate resilience of water services in selected metropolitan areas of El Salvador.
Our technological contribution and the organisations involved
A transformation of this scale requires close collaboration between major institutional stakeholders. The BAV TOROGOZ Consortium, which is responsible for delivering the project, has drawn on Global Omnium’s expertise through our team of specialists.
To support the success of this initiative, members of GOservicios’ GIS team travelled to El Salvador alongside colleagues from Aguas de Valencia Internacional. Sandra Alabarta Mir, Geomatics Services Coordinator; Noelia Soriano Dolz, GIS Technician; and Christian Cuellar and Alejandra Guarachi, from Aguas de Valencia Internacional, brought their expertise and know-how with the main objective of laying the technological foundations for the implementation of a new customer and network asset inventory.
To achieve this, data collection will be standardised, eliminating historical discrepancies, while an ESRI geodatabase will be configured as the technological core of the project. Mobile applications will also be deployed to support offline fieldwork, and comprehensive training will be provided to field and office staff responsible for collecting, managing and processing data. This will ensure that the local teams are fully equipped to manage the system independently.

The aim of our consultancy is to establish a standardised structure so that there are no differences between sectors and everyone works in the same way. Towards a digital and integrated future
The current work on the customer and network asset inventory is only the first step. Our vision is for the GIS platform to become a comprehensive corporate tool supporting the day-to-day management of service incidents, rehabilitation works and the continuous monitoring of water leaks. Because behind every map and every system lies an essential purpose: to ensure the more efficient and resilient management of a resource that is indispensable to life. And achieving this goal requires technology to be matched by knowledge, commitment and collaboration.
This project in El Salvador represents precisely that: collaboration between GOservicios and Aguas de Valencia Internacional, bringing together teams, knowledge and experience to address the challenges of water management. At GOservicios, we are proud to be part of this project and to contribute, alongside Aguas de Valencia Internacional, to the development of solutions that help move towards more efficient, integrated and resilient water management.
