Leak detection through aerial inspection

A drone inspection allows facilities to be analysed visually, safely and precisely, even in environments that require special planning. At GOservicios, we carried out an aerial inspection flight over the elevated water tank in San Onofre, in Quart de Poblet, to assess its condition and visually check a possible water leak.

An inspection tailored to the facility's needs
The project arose from the need to inspect an elevated water tank and locate, using aerial imagery, an area where a possible water leak had previously been detected.

Our aim was to carry out a visual survey of the facility using a drone, obtaining detailed photographs and video that would allow us to analyse its condition from different angles. This methodology makes it easier to review elevated structures without initially having to resort to more complex access equipment. In addition, the characteristics of the site meant that prior planning and coordination were particularly important.

Safety and coordination to carry out the flight
The facility is located approximately two kilometres from Manises Airport and close to a National Police station. For this reason, before starting the work we arranged the relevant permits and coordinated the operation with the bodies involved.

We also maintained constant communication with air traffic control to report the flight and ensure the necessary safety conditions were maintained at all times. The proximity to the airport area required particular attention, especially due to low-altitude aircraft traffic.

 
Images that provide information for decision-makingDuring the inspection, we focused part of the work on the area identified as a possible leak point and took detailed shots using the drone. The result was a set of photographs and videos providing a visual record of the facility and documenting its condition as observed during the inspection.

For us, this type of work demonstrates the value of digital mapping and aerial capture technologies applied to infrastructure inspection. Beyond the flight itself, the aim is to obtain useful information that can support subsequent technical action and decision-making.

At GOservicios, we continue to incorporate aerial capture solutions to facilitate the inspection and documentation of facilities. Each project requires analysing the surrounding environment beforehand, coordinating the parties involved, and adapting the work to the site's specific conditions.
